Appointments System

Patients can pre-book appointments with the doctor of their choice as long as appointments are available.

Requests for urgent appointments can be made on the day by telephoning reception from 8:00am onwards by calling 01784 432 191. You will either be offered an appointment with the duty doctor or the emergency clinic which is a SIT AND WAIT service where you will be seen by the first available GP. If there are no available appointments with us, you may be offered an appointment with the extended access services, or asked to attend the walk in centre.

Urgent appointments are for one problem only.

Telephone Advice

The doctors can offer advice by telephone where appropriate. There are a limited number of telephone appointments available everyday starting from 2.00 pm.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment by phoning on 01784 432 191.

This will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays).

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to provide a mobile number and to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.

Late Arrival Policy

Please attend your appointment on time, if you arrive more than 10mins late for your appointment you may not be seen. However, if you contact the practice by telephone in advance and notify us that you are running late, you may well be seen and accommodated but this will be at the discretion of the health care professional that you have the appointment with.

If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.

Home Visits

Patients are requested to telephone the surgery before 10.00am if a visit is required in order to allow the doctors time to plan their calls.

Several patients can be seen at the surgery in the time that it takes to do a home visit and it is at the doctor's discretion as to whether a home visit is deemed necessary.

DNA Policy

If a patient fails to attend 3 or more appointments in a 12 month period, a letter explaining that they are to be removed from the practice list will be sent and information as to how to register at a new surgery will be included.

The effects of patients missing appointments are:

  • An increase in the waiting time for appointments
  • Frustration for both staff and patients
  • Costs the NHS millions of pounds each year
  • Prevents someone else who is unwell to be seen sooner
  • Unfortunately patients frequently missing booked appointments is a wasted resource that other patients nor the surgery can accept.
